1. Data Controller

This website, PronoStats (pronostats.it), is a personal/hobby project. For any privacy-related inquiries, you can contact the data controller at: [email protected].

2. Data Collected

PronoStats collects technical, analytical, and — for registered users — account and user-generated content data. No profiling or marketing is performed. The data collected is specified below.

2.1 Session Data

When you visit the site, a random Session ID is generated. This ID is not linked to any personally identifiable information. It is used solely to count unique visits and monitor active pages.

2.2 Page Views

For each page visited, we record: the page path (e.g., /predictions), the referrer (source page), the browser user agent, and the screen width. This data is used exclusively for aggregate statistical analysis of site traffic.

2.3 Geolocation from IP Address

The visitor's IP address is sent to the third-party service ip-api.com to obtain approximate geolocation information (country code and approximate geographic coordinates). The IP address is NOT stored in our database. Only the country code (e.g., "IT") and approximate coordinates (latitude/longitude) are saved.

2.4 Active Sessions

The system tracks the current page and last activity timestamp for each session. This data is automatically deleted after 30 minutes of inactivity.

2.5 User Account Data

PronoStats allows users to register and create an account. During registration, we collect: username (display name), email address, and password (stored exclusively in encrypted/hashed form). This data is necessary for authentication, profile management, and participation in community features.

2.6 User-Generated Content (UGC)

Registered users can publish "Community Tips" (sports predictions with reasoning) and vote on other users' content. Data collected includes: tip content (bet label, text reasoning, optional odds), votes cast, and gameplay statistics (points, level, streak, hit rate). Anonymous votes (from non-registered users) are counted but are not associated with any personal data.

2.7 Chat Messages

Users can participate in match-specific chat or general chat. Chat data includes: the username of the author, the message text, the country code derived from the user's IP address, and the session identifier (session_id). Chat messages are retained for a limited period: 3 hours after the match ends for match-specific chat, 24 hours for general chat, after which they are automatically deleted from the database.

3. Legal Basis for Processing

The processing of session and analytical data is based on the legitimate interest of the data controller (Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR). The processing of account data and user-generated content is based on contract performance (Article 6(1)(b) of the GDPR) relating to the use of platform services. The display of advertisements through third-party services (Google AdSense, Monetag) is based on user consent (Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR). No direct profiling is performed by PronoStats.

4. Cookies and Local Storage Technologies

PronoStats uses technical cookies and local storage technologies (localStorage/sessionStorage) for the operation of the site. Specifically, the following are saved: language preference (Italian/English) and theme preference (light/dark). Additionally, third-party advertising services (Google AdSense, Monetag) may place and read cookies on users' browsers, or use web beacons, to collect data for ad personalization and optimization. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this or other websites. 5. Third-Party Services

PronoStats uses the following external services:

• ip-api.com: used to convert the IP address into approximate geolocation information. The IP address is not stored by PronoStats.
• Google AdSense: Google's advertising service that displays ads on the site. Google uses cookies (including the DART cookie) to serve ads based on users' visits to this and other websites. Users can opt out of the DART cookie by visiting the Google ad and content network privacy policy page. 6. Data Retention

Page views (anonymous aggregate statistical data) are retained indefinitely for historical traffic analysis purposes. Active session data is automatically deleted after 30 minutes of inactivity. No personally identifiable data is retained.

Under Articles 15-22 of the EU Regulation 2016/679 (GDPR), you have the right to:

8. Data Transfers

Geolocation data is processed through ip-api.com, whose servers may be located outside the European Economic Area. No other data transfers to third countries are performed.

9. Security

PronoStats adopts appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect collected data from unauthorized access, loss, or destruction, including the use of encrypted connections (HTTPS).

10. Changes to This Policy

The data controller reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. Changes will be published on this page with an indication of the last update date. We recommend periodically reviewing this page.
